Grandma Drake purchased this Playmobil Nativity Set for my children last December. Nathan was about 3 1/2 at the time, and the box recommends the set for kids age 4 and above. I definitely agree. Last year Nathan decided it was his job to take the figures apart -- capes off, cuffs off, heads pulled off -- he was a little wrecking machine with this set. However, now that he is 4 1/2 years old, he can play with it like a civilized child. Nathan will move the people and tell stories and change things around.I like the nativity set because it allows you to tell the story of Jesus Christ's birth in a kid-friendly way. It's a good way to teach that there's more to Christmas than Santa, reindeer, and presents. Nathan informed me that one of the three Kings is King Nathan, and the shepherd's name is also Nathan. He makes up his own version of the Christmas story too. Nathan said the angel is named Sophia, and the three Kings brought presents to her for her birthday. (I think he wants every character to take turns having a birthday.) We lost the baby Jesus last Christmas (when Nathan was a wild child), so I put a little plastic baby on Day 24 of our advent calendar house. I'm sure Nathan will be pleased to finally have a baby for the manger. Merry Christmas!
p.s. Nathan shouted out with glee when he found the baby on Day 24. He put the baby on the manger piece and said, "I put baby Jesus in the crib!" The children had so much fun on Christmas morning. Children make Christmas extra special.
